Onboarding

Welcome to Zyos.

This page walks you through everything you need on your first day: your accounts, your access, the tools we use and where to go when you get stuck.

Getting started

Work through these steps in order. Most people are done in under an hour.

1

Sign in to GitLab

All code, issues and documentation live at git.zyos.at. Use the invitation you received by email to set your password, then enable two-factor authentication under Preferences → Account.

2

Add your SSH key

Generate a key if you don't have one and add the public half under Preferences → SSH Keys.

ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "you@zyos.at"
cat ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub
3

Clone your first project

Verify the connection and pull a repository you've been granted access to.

ssh -T git@git.zyos.at
git clone git@git.zyos.at:<group>/<project>.git
4

Read the handbook

Team conventions, branching rules and the review process are documented in the handbook project on GitLab. Skim it once now and refer back to it as needed.

5

Say hello

Introduce yourself to the team and ask your onboarding buddy anything that isn't covered here. No question is too small.
